Pictures from Turkey

Istanbul.

The Sea of Marmara

Whirling Dervish experience. Whirling dervishes adhere to
a mystical interpretation of Islam.

Cappadocia ( Galatia) has some very interesting geography. It was
also a popular hideout for Christians for a few centuries after Christ.
Troas- or Troy.

Leaving Turkey for a day trip to Patmos.

I think this is Smyrna. It is in the Apocalypse of St. John.
Pamukale. Beautiful limestone terraces
with pools of (cascading) water

This is another picture of Istanbul. It is near Istanbul University.

This Archway is all that remains of Chalcedon, A city near Constantinople.
Now completely enveloped by Istanbul.
It was the site of a major church ( ecumenical ) council.

Wow!! Craig what a lot of memories you have accumulated. It was so nice of you to share the pictures with your family. That will, I hope give you an ever increasing interest in history. It is important for us to learn history, they say, or we will be obliged to repeat it.
Love always Grandma Pearl
