Greece

A couple of days ago we went to the isle of Patmos- which is in Greece. It was pretty fun even though we spent almost the whole day on the ferry. We ferried over from Kusadassi ( Turkey), which is about a four hour ferry ride there and about a 5 1/2 hour ride back. There were some fairly big waves ( or are they called swells ?) on the way back. I assume that the boat that John used to get to the island probably wasn't as big as our ferry, so it was easy for me to imagine him ( potentially) having a rough ride. But despite this I still slept very soundly on the way back.

On the island we visited the Saint John Monestary and the cave area where it is thought that John recieved the vision of the book of Revelation. It was a pretty cool experience. I also liked our lunch that we had in Greece. It just tasted so good. We had a salad and then some Grilled chicken with rice and french fries. The French fries were not very salty, but I think that may have been part of what made them so good.

I also read the first few chapters of the book of  the Revelation of St. John the Apostle on the island, and on the ferry ride back I read most of D&C section 88. They actually coincided quite nicely.

Once we were back in Turkey we spent the next day mostly driving and then ended our day with a quick visit to the city of ancient Troy. It wasn't fabulous, but it was cool to see.

Now we are in back in Greece. I spent last night in Kavala, or ancient Neopolis which is where Paul began one of his missionary journeys into Greece. Today I saw what is thought to be the prision that Paul was thrown into and later escaped with the help of an angel. We also listened to a talk from this last general conference. Now I have al ready forgotten who it was by- but I think it was a talk on missionary work from the priesthood session of General conference. It made me think of some of the many blessings that I have recieved from serving my mission.

It has been a great adventure, but alas I must return in less then a weeks time.

If I were younger I'd wish I were there. But sharing it in thought suits me just fine. Thanks for sharing. Prepare a travelog to show us when you get back. Love Grandma
